Worship with Early Friends
Saturday, May 12th 9am-3pm
Annapolis Friends Meeting (AFM) will have an opportunity to experience a program exploring the spiritual vitality of the early Friends. Co-leaders are Maurine Pyle, workshop leader and past Clerk of AFM, and Helene Pollock, former Director of Quaker Affairs at Haverford College. In the morning we’ll draw on remarks from participants in AFM small groups, who will help ground us in the real issues of our meeting’s spiritual life. Together, we’ll look for relevant connections with our history and heritage as Friends. After lunch we’ll have quiet time, for refreshment, and we’ll explore the meditative practice of chanting Quaker texts as a community.
This workshop/retreat is sponsored by AFM through Ministry & Worship and there is no cost to attend. We are very pleased and excited to have this program. A lite breakfast and lunch will be provided. Feel free to participate in either the morning or the afternoon if you can’t attend the entire time. Quarterly Meeting is being invited.
Please RSVP so we can assess lunch needs. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
